It all started for me about 1980, I was minding my own buisness tinkering with something when the Kaisers moved into the neighborhood. I went to school with Troy and hung out around " the shop" from jr high on through my adult life. I was fortunate enough to be able to be on the crew several times throuought JR's racing career. I got to see a lot of the country from inside the "howdy bus", the Kaiser-built motorhome that hauled the top fuel car.
I spent the early part of my career in the body and paint world, then moved into the world of 4-wheel drives and perfected my metal fabrication skills. All the while I built engines for myself and most of my friends all with the help of the Kaisers. |

Every time I wanted to build something JR would show me how to operate whatever machine was necessary for each machining operation, thus imbedding me with skills I would need later in life. Of course, JR always said, I could get you a job here, and mostly he was kidding, but he saw some qualitys in me that he new would make for a great machinist. Then one day I was having lunch with Troy and he spoke about how busy they were at the shop and was considering hiring someone new, well within a couple of weeks I showed up and refused to leave.
The rest is history. --- Oliver Jones |
